BEFORE START

Gas, Oil, Hydraulic, Oil OK
Circuit Breakers Checked
Fire Warning System Checked
Start Valve & Alcohol Valve Open
Parking Brake Set
Gear Safety Cables & Gust Locks OK
Fire Wall Shut-off Switches Open

STARTING THE DC2

PREPARATION

Set tankselector at desired tank (Left center pedestal)
Set engine selector valve to Both (Right center pedestal)
Battery on (Overhead panel)
Main ignition Switch on (Ignition panel)
Mixtures both engines to rich (Center pedestal)
Props full forward/ fine pitch (Center pedestal)
Carburator heat cold (Center pedestal)
Fuel Boost Pumps on (Overhead panel)
Beacon on (Overhead panel)


ENGINE STARTING

Choose to start either engine first, it doesn't matter.

Prime the engine until fuel poors out of the engine (approx 5 seconds and don't tell the environmentalists) (Overhead panel)
Start that engine and allow prop to turn 4 times, i.e. count the famous twelve blades (Overhead panel)
Ignition switch for that engine on both (Ignition panel)
Check Oil pressure (Instrument panel)

Repeat for the other engine

AFTER START

Fuel boost pumps off (Overhead panel)
Generators on (Overhead panel)
Hydraulic pump on (Overhead panel)
Set parking brake (Below left instrument panel)

PRE -TAXI

Hydraulic Pressure (500psi min) OK
Tail Wheel Unlocked
Radios & Radio Master Switch OK
Generators On

ENGINE RUN-UP

Temps & Pressures (oil in green) OK
Parking Brake Set
RPM 1500
Prop Governors Cycle Twice
Prop Feathering OK
Generators OK
Alternate Air Source OK
Mag Check at Field Barometric

PRE TAKE-OFF

Fuel Selectors Fullest & Both
Carb Air Cold
Cross Feed Off
Prop Controls High rpm
Mixtures Rich
Flaps Up

Mixture Off Full Rich
Propellor Low RPM-Feather 2300 RPM
Throttle Closed 32" MAP
Firewall Shut-Off Switch Closed
CO2 Selected
Engine Fuel Selector Set to Good Eng.
Ignition Switch Off
Generator Off
Trim Airplane
Gear and Flaps as Required
Seat Belt, No Smoking Sign
Check Vacuum


TO UNFEATHER

Open Firewall Shut-Off Switch
Set engine Fuel Selector "Both"
Turn on Ignition Switch
Unfeather propellor and synchronize propellors
Place Mixture Control in Full Rich Position
Turn on Generator
Warm Up Engine at 15" MAP
When Engine has warmed up to 140 degres C, Set to Desired Power
Reduce Power on Opposite Engine and See Cruise Check List
Trim Airplane
